Re: CRF50/XR50 Subframe Round Bar

i just like the idea of a round bar instead of the flat stock i dont think im gonna do sit down scrapes but like FIB circles and small scrapes standing up on pegs or one with one in the bar. Also any idea on how to make my subframe stronger and what to use solid bar schedual40 or 80 DOM i have a welder so let me know

Re: CRF50/XR50 Subframe Round Bar

For bracing, i would go over the stock welds to make sure they are good. Not really sure what to add as far as metal maybe some flat stock across the top where your gunna weld the bar to the frame or an L bracket like the one your seat bolts to??

I thought these things would sell a little quicker though, so many people wanted them..sold 2 so far!

You can also use some gussets to help reinforce it...

im planning to plate the outside of the subframe rails with some 1" x 3/16" flat stock. I was thinking about triangulating downward too, but it looks like anything substantial would interfere with the swingarm.

I dont have the 5/8" bar you would need to fit in his brackets. These mount in your subframe.

Re: CRF50/XR50 Subframe Round Bar

Ya thats why I was curious if anyone has tried to scrape one of these yet cause it seems like it would just tear up your subframe.. where as prickster mounted his on the 12 bar brackets

Re: CRF50/XR50 Subframe Round Bar

If you plan on scraping i would just pay for the 50 stunt brackets... I got the hole 50stunt 12 bar set up used for 90 bucks... Sry crzy But it still scares me that there is no extra support with that thing the sub frames are weak as **** if you don't brace them up.. Not saying yours wont work.. I would just be worried.

Did you brace yours? And i am sure you know how to scrape alot of the people looking at this are new and i am pretty sure they will be gorilla scraping... I know the first few times i ever did it might have been bad with just bars in the sub frame.. Maybe i just worry to much though

No bracing. I just hammered the rods into the subframe about a foot. Every one of my scrapes was a looped wheelie where the brake just wasnt strong enough, or my foot slipped off it. Some were pretty hard.

Re: CRF50/XR50 Subframe Round Bar

I'm sure if you are jumping the bike and tossing it around it could bend the frame. I doubt ur gunna break it from looping a wheelie. The whole reason i started making this was to protect the fender and thats when everyone started with make this one and ill buy it, now this way...

Like i have said from the start for the fender i think its a great idea

I jump my bike while in wheelies and toss my bike around alot so i worry about things like this.. I was doing circles around my tree the other day and fell over with all my body wight in to the tree on the front end of the bike almost new for sure i was going to atleast **** up some plastics but they were fine

Re: CRF50/XR50 Subframe Round Bar

I looped a sitdown near the top of third the other day (totally missed the brake like a ******* squid lol) and gorilla slammed hard! The bike hit the tail/subby and slid along on it for about 10ft. Tweaked one side a bit, but I just bent it back down. Just got my roundbar put in yesterday, btw!
