Re: air box mods?

You could always go with the cheap way of modifying your air box like i did...take off the air box and put up a lil bracket to hold the stock filter in and then drop the pin down a notch and mess around with idle a little and you got a lil more power for free.

Re: air box mods?

I recently purchased a xr70 carb and intake and it is not a direct bolt on. I had to replace the cable which luckily came w/ the used carb. You will have to use an aftermarket air filter or the stock 70 airbox which luckily came w/ the carb. I also had to cut the intake in two, turn it slightly, and weld it back together b/c the intake would not sit flush w/ the head b/c the throttle cable was hitting the frame. I also recommend that you port the head to match the intake or you are just wasting your time b/c the intake port for the 70 is a lot bigger than the port on the head. Just my .02

Re: air box mods?

Had to clean up the weld today at work. Will probably mount it again on Monday and make any adjustments necessary and let you know. I have a feeling the low end response is not going to be what it used to but we will see.
