carb setup for 72cc?

i just installed a 72cc cheater kit last night. I wanted to know what the best carb set up for this would be? i have a 20mm carb on there now, but i havent tried it yet, i was wondering if the 20mm would be too big to run without cam?

Re: carb setup for 72cc?

i don't know from experience but the other thread in this section recomends a 62 mainjet in the stock carb. i would have no clue about a 20mm. hope that's some help.

i have an 88cc kit w/ an 18mm carb and run an 85 jet cause that's all i have right now, but it's running as rich as 10:1 once i'm in the main jet so i need to go smaller maybe to an 80.

Re: carb setup for 72cc?

fab said the stock jet for a fiddy stk carb was 58 and to put a 60 in it for the 72 kit i believe .if is just a few posts back so look it up to be sure.
id just get a stock 70 carb and intake and be done with it ,works great on my stocker.and when you get ready for the 88 you can jet the pilot on the 70 carb you cannot on the fiddy carb.also the 70 intake you can get your thumb into a fiddy intake you cant get your pinky into.if you look at all the 88 kits that come with a carb it is the old xl 70 carb and intake.

Re: carb setup for 72cc?

The important thing to remember is although you can change jets to allow as much fuel in the carb as you want you need to get more AIR in there too and the stock carb doesn't allow you to do that. I would find a carb for a XR70 for your application. IMHO a 20mm carb is too big for a 72cc motor. Biggest I would go is 18mm.
