Lifan clutch problem
Lifan clutch problem
I've got a lifan engine with the manual clutch and the clutch wont disengage sometimes. I cant pull in the clutch lever, it just wont pull in. Usually if i turn off the engine and roll it backwards in gear, it will work again. I remember reading somewhere that it could be the cluth basket gets grooves in it. Anyone have any ideas to fix it?
Also, the flywheel keeps coming off when i ride it. I tried putting a lock washer on and that kept it on for a while, but it came off again. Anyone have some ideas to keep that on?
This lifan is pissing me off.

Re: Lifan clutch problem
the manaul clutch needs lube under that chrome plate with the phillips head screws on it. open it up and spray some silicon lube in there. they all do it, even hondas. as for the flywheel, tighten the nut with an impact.

Re: Lifan clutch problem
Well i sprayed some chain lube on the lever thing under that chrome cover and it still doesnt work. Maybe i need to let it warm up and get some real silicon spray.
Re: Lifan clutch problem
ever lube the cable? that always helps. find out if its the cable or the clutch. pull it apart and make sure the clutch is still attached to the crank.
what motor is it?(cc, gears)

Re: Lifan clutch problem
buy a honda heheheheh
dont use chain lube it tends to get gooey use something like cable lube teflon or silicone do the mechanism and cable as was stated before to eliminate that
part of it ,readjust it see if you still have the problem, then pull the cover off and peek inside if it is still fubared

Re: Lifan clutch problem
Well...I took the cover off and pulled the clutch off the crank. I think i figured out the problem... When i look in the clutch i can see some washers and other stuff loose and moving around in there. I dont think it's supposed to be like that. I could get the phillips head screw out to take it apart. I think im gonna have to use an impact driver for that. Does anyone know where i can find an exploded view diagram for the lifan clutch? Is it the same as the one dratv sells?

I think the parts that are loose are 16,17 and 18 in the pic. I'll have to take it apart to find out for sure.

Re: Lifan clutch problem
ok, im assuming u took #18 off and u can see the stuff is loose. if thats the case, u need to take the 4 phillips screws out with an impact driver. dont even attemp a screwdriver or u will strip them for sure and then u will have problems. once the screws are out, the cover will pop off. u will then need a clutch nut tool to tighten the nut back up that is loose.
Re: Lifan clutch problem
Am i stupid or what!
Well, after looking at pictures of crankshafts on dratv's website while i was in school, i realized that the crankshaft end didnt actually break off! I'll try to explain it so i dont look like such a dumbass. I thought that the bearing part on the outside of the clutch was supposed to be attached somehow to the threads on the end of the crankshaft. The reason i thought that was because i put the gear under the clutch on backwards when i slipped the clutch back on to see what happened. It also looked like something broke off the end of the crank because the nut and washers where spinning around on there and it ruffed up the metal and messed up the end of the threads a bit.
Anyways...Will i be able to tighten the clutch nut with just a hammer and punch, or do i have to get the special tool?

Re: Lifan clutch problem
Give it a quick rap with an impact, the cone washer will hold the preload and stop it from backing off.
Here is a video on the process of rebuilding the clutch
