My Street Legal Stunter

Re: My Street Legal Stunter
I plan on doing making my 50 street legal beginning of next year. Very easy here in Texas. I will be re-winding the stator rather than using a battery or buying an expensive aftermarket unit. Also, here we don't have to install turn signals because the bike didn't come from the manufacturer with turn signals. We just need a headlight, tail light, brake switch for the brake/ tail light, light for the license plate and a honking bicycle horn from walmart to pass inspection basically. Then we take the title to the DMV and get it submitted for on-road use then mount up the plate. All can be done for under $200 easy.
No bike in Louisiana has to have signals either, it's legal to just use hand jesters, but I feel the more apparent it is, the better off I am while cruising around on it. Just had to swing by for trooper to verify VIN and sign off on some paper. DMV for registration and then to inspection station for rest. If you know someone, that can be done even easier.
I wired up the stator on my koren BBR-knockoff 50 frame with 125... I still have a battery on it wired in mainly to act as a capacitor of sorts.. keeps my lights from dimming and getting brighter like with only a stator.

Re: My Street Legal Stunter
Guys-
The bike looks great and I'm preparing to add a stator and a battery to my XR50 in order to provide enough constant amperage to power a couple of lights and accessories. Any input on adding both in order to draw from the batt, but also to use the stator to recharge the battery while in motion?
I want to make sure I don't blow the batt while I'm riding as I'm one of 10 guys who use these fiddys for parades.
We're trying to dress these up with an Acerbis fairing with led lights that wig-wag, have red/blue ultrabright LED's blinking and (the big power suck) a siren/PA that is SUPER loud.
I've been trying to research, but am either not looking in the right places, or there's just not much out there. Any information you guys can offer would be helpful!
Thanks!

check out ebay or pccmotor.com and look at their batteries... they're small and compact so they'll fit in between your subframe rails like I did mine.
Re: My Street Legal Stunter
I Would also like to know what battery you used. Can you post pics of the baja designs rear brake switch setup? I'm also having a hard time finding brake levers with a switch that have metal perches
Re: My Street Legal Stunter
I have no clue where I got the battery, but you can find some small ones on ebay for pretty cheap... they look just like a car battery but fits in the palm of your hand.
I know www.pccmotors.com sells them, but can be found cheaper and I think even smaller on ebay.

Re: My Street Legal Stunter
Sorry for all of the questions but it looks like you do excellent work. What power junction or bus bar did you use to distribute the power to each component from the battery?
Re: My Street Legal Stunter
I just ran 12ga positive and negative the length of the bike. Then just pulled back the insulation where the best place was and soldered whatever light I was installing. On the tail light and headlight switch I have a harness on them so I can disconnect it pretty easily..
