Chain Issues

When my bike is parked with or w/o Me on it, the chain feels tight to the touch but when Im riding it and I watch it its slapping all over the place?? Why is this? Also when im wheelieing w/o the clutch and I drop the gas and hit it again it makes a clunking sound like the chains loose and theres play when I hit the gas ya know. Dont know if I described it well but if someone understood me and can help me thatd be great. TIA

Re: Chain Issues

i had the same thing happen to me, go through the bike and make sure everything is tight. turns out my motor was falling out, both nuts came off both motor mount bolts and the bolts backed almost all the way out, chain was slapping cause the motor was twisting and all sorts of ****, big clunk when you nailed the gas too. not saying that's what's wrong with yours but you just go through the bike slowly and check everything you will probably find the problem. these are the most basic of motor vehicles and they are solid as a rock. it will be something stupid i assure you.

Re: Chain Issues

check:

motor mount bolts (make sure the nuts and bolts are there and tight)
motor mount tabs (i've seen those break off @ the frame)
axle bolt (tightness)
wheel adjusters (make sure those are even and tight)
sprokets (make sure bolts are there and they aren't falling off)

i dont' know how much you have been into ur bike but **** gets rattled loose, comes out or off, forget to put stuff back or just put it finger tight, ect.

i think something is loose and tweaking because of the thud and the chain going slack. if any of the things i listed aren't tight you will get this.

Re: Chain Issues

are you jumping things? i have broken a 5-0 swingarm where the shock mounts to it from jumping things. also folded a frame, the one i'm using today, i had to reinforce it with a piece of flat stock that i brassed (sp?) in along the bottom. powder coated that bitch Vicks 44 red/purple, looks good now.
