tank slapper
tank slapper
id like to hear your guys storries of tank slappers and how you dealt with it. i had one the other day ive been told prior to it to just sit back on the seat let go of the bars and ride it out but my insicts had me grab the bars tight and stop it and the bike. and yes i had a scotts dampner on it
Re: tank slapper
ya i guess that makes the most sense to gas it now that you all mention it ive been told to do that before too, when it happened it just cought me by surprise and didnt have time to think about it, but im still verry curious if its happened to anyone else with a after market dampner?
Re: tank slapper
use to happen all the time w/ stock 929 and every once in awhile with the R6 on riding hard on the twisty's... but every ****in 929 will do it (or the damn honda's for that matter).. but the ohlin's cured it for me..

Except when you're doing 90 full throttle on a race track out of a sweeper and you weigh 150 pounds. You have no idea what a tank slapper is until it's too late and you're sliding accross pavement. They can be so violent that you will have a headache 3 hours later from it.
Re: tank slapper
some can be saved, you just have to do the best you can
depends on how hard you ride and your style
hit the wera and ccs forums for more info, racers know more about slap than most riders

Re: tank slapper

....good luck Re: tank slapper
Some can be saved, some can't, but it's always good insurance to have a damper. Even if you get a slapper with a damper installed you have a hell of a lot better chance of getting out of it.

have you had one???
Re: tank slapper
Yes at 110 that's why I haven't ridden in over a month. I'm fine and the bike only got one fairing scratched not even any marks on the upper or tail.
I'm getting a damper though.
