How To DownShift in wheelie?

Anyone ever tried downshifting during a wheelie? to slow down? just curious seen a kid do it on a 600rr and wondered how it was done.

Re: How To DownShift in wheelie?

I think thats the gayest thing i have ever heard bro. Just my 2 cents. Not knocking you for tryin.

Peace Justin

PS All you need to stay in is 1st for slow **** and 2nd and 3rd for highway. You can slow down easy in 2nd or 3rd without downshifting depending on the gearing you are running. Hell I did all my highway **** in 2nd and I had a 929 with 1 tooth down in the front and 8 up in the rear.

to slow down a wheelie you have to keep it behind the balance point

i did it twice accidentally and both times it came slamming down (i was trying to shift gears during a wheelie on my friends bike and forgot it was regular shifting......i have gp shifting).... i dont think down shifting would slow it down anyways.........all i think it would do for you is make your rpms go higher

Re: How To DownShift in wheelie?

simple wheelie in watever gear u normally do. throw it into a coaster put ur left leg forward and downshift, put ur left leg back on the passenger peg and put the coaster down.

With that gearing, in 2nd, do you throttle it up, or clutch it up?

Yeah even I wouldn't come up with something as stupid as this.

It would slow you down but then you'd also slam the front down and possibly be thrown off the bike if you're standing with a loose grip.

Re: How To DownShift in wheelie?

I suppose if you were at bp you could pull in the clutch and click it down and let the clutch out REAL slow, all while using the gas to keep the revs near where they would be when the clutch is fully ingaged.

Sounds dumb unless you want to slow down from a highway wheelie to a circle without setting it down.

Re: How To DownShift in wheelie?

Stoppie Steve:
Bikes at home for the winter gettin some things done to it.. but i should have it back down here late winter early spring. ill definately holler at ya...

So anyway sorry for those of you that decided to knock me about the downshifting thing. but personally when i see yall doin a second gear highchair or somthin more crazy then that... ill listen to ya.. but anyway i seen a kid from my hometown (who rides motorcross) downshift a RC from 3rd to second then second to first and slow down to about 15 or so miles per hour... not somthing thats easy to do at all. So anyway i was just curious if it was a common thing or just somthing useless but insane? Sorry to those of you i offended with a decent question and to those who had a decent answer... thanks

Re: How To DownShift in wheelie?

downshifting isn't anything I've really ever thought of. just because I've still been able to go pretty slow in second and third without the bike stalling out and without crazy gearing. whenever I do a coaster I am either in second or third and at the end of the coaster when I'm almost stopped I let the clutch out and ride out of it and I'm barely moving maybe 5mph or so
