So are you saying bring it up and stay on the gas, but then when you hit the oh-crap point get on the brake to get it down? Now I'm just wondering if the brake will give you enough braking to bring it down at 1/2 throttle or so. I want to go try this method tomorrow but I just don't want to loop if my brake won't quite do it.

I got a 929 and an R1. My bad--just picked up the 929--I think Honda calls the exhaust valve HTEV or something rather?

If you're talking to me, NO. The brake on your bike is designed to do 20% overall braking in sport configuration. I am saying when you are slowed down enough to have to ride the brake when your idle is up and you are off the throttle, you are getting somewhere. If you're at 1/2 throttle, you are still power wheeling and need to work on things a little.

I used to run my idle around 4K on my R1. On my 900 I find that having the idle around 3200 for standing no handers works well, but for circles, I like the idle a little higher, maybe 3800 to 4000. I agree, it is a matter of feel, but you need guidance along the way and hopefully this helps.

If you put idle to 5000, and red line is 10000, it's not half(1/2) throttle. It's just revs half way, but uses maybe 1/10 off the throttle range. There is not much power even thou it can rev 5k.

correct. 1/2 throttle in first gear will stil pull you to redline.

Just trying to correct someones misundertanding of whet we're saying. If you have brake control, you now have to go through BP and ride the brake a little more to scrub off speed.

Re: Just started 12'in-Picture

think about the lagistics (SP?) of it...once it's behind bp, then it wants to fall back (with constant R's) so you have to drag the brake to bring it forward a bit, but not back through bp..keep it behind bp..it's amazing how i understand it, but still have ****in trouble doin it

Re: Just started 12'in-Picture

that "oh ****" point you were talking about is probably right where you want to be.....stock gearing does make it a little more difficutl too, not so much as slowing it down once you're in a wheelie, but bringing it up...you have to work the bike a little harder. If you don't want to gear your bike down too much try -2 +7 my brother runs that and it's not too bad.
