Arrow Motor is knocking. What is it?

Aight, today I was punchin the gas hard and winding out first gear like a b*tch and then all the sudden, the motor starts knocking and it sounds like a v-twin. It has a significant loss of power and has a bad rattle/knock to it. There is some oil residue on the end of the exhaust also. My boy that was riding behind me and said it was smoking a blue color. I had to ride a lil ways to a friends house, I knew that wouldnt be good for it, but fu(k it. For the past couple of months right when I would crank my bike up for the first time of the day, it would have a rattle untill it warmed up, so I kinda think thats where this whole thing started. I think maybe a valve's bent or a pushrod, maybe the cam chains fu(ked up, hell I dont know, thats why I'm asking you...

If u need to know it's a gsxr 1k 2003...

It doesnt even have enough power to clutch up a wheelie. Wouldnt it be better if i go ahead and tear the motor apart and fix whats wrong with it?

my friends got an 03' 750 with exactly the same problem. Your bike should still be under warranty from the dealer bring it in and see what they say.

I already took it in when it was rattling at startup, and they said I had too much oil in it, thats why its rattling. And then gave me a bill for $200 cuz they say warranty wont cover it. Im done with warranty's and dealerships. Those policies are fu(king rip off's. Ill take matters into my hands from here on out, its cheaper that way. I just need to figure out what part of the motor should i start tearing apart first...

Re: Motor is knocking. What is it?

Sounds like rod knock due to a spun bearing.

Re: Motor is knocking. What is it?

Rod Bearins Are Sweet, if its a spun bearing the crank needs machining, u need to buy all new gaskets, main bearins and rod bearins. pain in the *** dude, long down time on ur bike on a first engine tear down cause u did say push rod.. and uhm its not a push rod engine lol but u mide as well take it appart. pretty fun.

Re: Motor is knocking. What is it?

I'm gonna go with everyone else on this one....definately sounds like a rod bearing. Do yourself one favor- don't try to cut corners on costs. You'll pay for it later. A typical crank/bearing job will run about 1000 in parts. A crank is about $700 for your bike. If you have any questions, let me know.

Well, I took the breather box off and looked at the top of the throttle body's, and theres little dust metal particles on the choke flaps. So It might be somthing to do with the pistons. There were no metal pieces in the oil besides dust particles. Im still tearin it apart so we will soon see what the problem is...

Re: Motor is knocking. What is it?

you cant just put a head on that-you need a piston at least-may have a bent rod, etc-change the engine

Re: Motor is knocking. What is it?

damn mike!!! I was extremely surprised to hear that you might have spun a bearing since you installed the oil pickup. Glad that wasnt the case. But dropping a valve isnt much better. However, it is much easier / cheaper to fix than a spun bearing. You can get a new piston, wrist pin, head gasket and rings from ronayers.com and a head from ebay for around 500-600 bucks. When people blow engines from stunting, it is usually the bottom end that goes so heads are semi easy to find cheap.

Did you find out if the valve broke or if the keeper broke?

PM me and I'll send you my new number if you need any help.
