Just Got it, won't start. Help??

I just got a 2002 CBR600F4i, and the guy started it just before i bought it and, now I can't get it to start. It has gas, the stop engine switch is on, and the battery fully charged, and I've tried what the book said to do, "Hold the throttle wide open and turn-over for 5 sec. if it's flooded" so i don't know what it could be. Is there something stupid that i don't know about. Help please. I probably should mention that it ran completley out of gas. I don't know if that might have something to do with it.

it's fuel injected, turn the key off... wait 2 seconds... turn it on and let it cycle. then do it again. this will allow your pump to "prime" (basically getting gas into the bike) and then try it. Is it not turning over at all? LIke is the starter engaging? If not, try putting the bike in neutral. and starting it from there. It could be your spark too. Check your plugs and make sure they're not fouled. That being a last resort though cause it's kind of a paint in the ***. Good luck man.

Maybe you could call the guy and ask him... if he's close maybe he can come take a look at it for you

thanks for your reply, we ended up checking the plugs, but before we did that- we did something we regretted... we turned this screw, its on a cable on the left side of the bike.... we were thinking idle maybe? we then checked the plugs, sure enough- they were wet- it was like 11 oclock and w hd nothing to do- so we just cleaned them and put them back in. we turned it over, it fired a little, and they fouled again. we think the big is runnin way rich? we had a great spark when we put the plugs back in.can anyone happen to tell me the settings on that screw we messed with? does that screw have any relevance to our problem? any help appreciated... Paul

Most likely that is your tps (throttle position sensor) well thats what its called on a car. But yea, it adjusts your idle. If you have it too high the bike will be a bitch to get started. and if you do get it to turn over, it's gonna scream up to the rev limiter and you'll freak and turn it off and be right back where you started. did you turn it a lot? cause a 1/4 turn makes a huge difference! It could be dumping too much fuel into the mixture and causing the plugs to foul. Also, what was on the plugs when you pulled them? was it oil? antifreeze? or just a buttload of fuel? by the sounds of it you're gonna have to take them out again. Double check it and try to remember how much you played with the idle and turn it back to where it was... Good luck!

the black and round **** is an idle adjustment all the wat to the left is down, turn it all the way to the left and then to the right with the bike running untill you get to like 1300rpms

when a small engines plugs foul, no amount of cleaning will start them up again.

if you basically scrub them and sterilize them you might be lucky and get them to start and run like ****, but when they foul, its time for new plugs
