Help my f3 wont start???`
Help my f3 wont start???`
Ok the other day me and my buddy take off for a ride to check out my new headlight. It started out just fine, but after about 4 blocks the idle went to ****, and the motor quit. It started back up. So I go a few more blocks and it died again and wouldn't start. I ended up putting a my truck and hauling it home.
I tried to turn up the idle and that didn't help.
Any ideas????

My first bike was an F3...This one time after a long night I pumped diesel on it by mistake
....Went a couple blocks and died... Anyhow I drained the diesel out and it worked fine after that...Just a thought that might help~

might have sucked something into the carb. i know our f2/f3's are always getting something in the carbs. try cleaning the carbs out, then putting new plugs in it.
you said new headlight, what kind of headlight did you put on it? is the battery staying charged? if so then it's probably just the carbs building up....ours seem to run rich most of the time.

Thanks
The headlight is just a stock enclosure, and bulb. The lense was broke thats why I changed it. It will probably get broke again.
It seem to start a run just fine, before we took off. When I took out the air filter it was nasty. Lots of **** in it mostly bugs. What do you do to clean the carbs? Do you just spray some carb cleaner into it?
Thanks again
Re: Help my f3 wont start???`
ya, a clogged air filter will cause the bike to run rich which will foul plugs.
you have to pull the carbs off and take them apart and spray them out really good then blow them out with high PSI compressed air.
check your plugs though and replace your filter first. that could be the problem.

I got it going. It was the rectifer. It cost me **** though b/c. I have 98 f3 that I wreck awhile back. So I just swapped it and after the jump start it runs great.
