Welding subframe

i've got an 01 R1 with a small crack, in the drivers left side of the bike, on the bottom subframe attachment. I talked with an aluminum welder today, he said no prob except it could blow my CDI, coils, etc. I was wondering if I have to strip my bike down (which I've never done before), or if I can simply unplug everything when I get there? Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Re: Welding subframe

You pretty much answered your own question. Just disconnect the battery and you should be fine.

UNPLUG ELECTRICAL- BATTERY, COILS, AND CDI. REINFORCE THE SPOT ON BOTH SIDES TO AVOID REPEAT BUSINESS.
