Re: gears / 12 o'clock

i'm on a 900rr and im up 17 on the rear. it's definatly twitchy, but, i've been getting used to it lately. when i first got on them i was only doing 2nd gear sit downs.. i learned how to stand up and have been clutching them up in first from close to a dead stop. i'm just now starting to pull the wheel high enough to slow down. it gets smoother every time i ride.

*edit* i have heard it's better to go up on the back and not bother with the front sprocket due to the chain wearing faster because of the increased angle... i'll let someone with more experience post details about that.

Re: gears / 12 o'clock

eliminate twitch with use of rear brake.. i mean im a rookie but im learning that quickly...

By the way, my boy has a 2003 gsxr 1000 and he's wondering what sprockets to go with.. is like 6 up in the rear too much.. or should i just tell him to get a 50.

Re: gears / 12 o'clock

I have a 03 gixxer 1000 and i am -1+6. I started learning slow stuff about a month ago. I am to the point where I can park 12's and hell even stall the bike at about 2 mph at a dead stop. I am going to go up to a 64 or so in the rear. i find that its hard to get really slow with my gearing without stalling. if you want to learn the real slow sh*t then I recommend go big or go home.

thats just my opinion.....
