Angry Back wheel spinning when I clutch it

Here's the deal. I've been working on wheelies on my 01 kat 600, crappy bike for em I know, but I've been getting them up pretty god in the past week or so. Then yesterday I was in a parking lot trying to get to BP and for some reason every time I dropped the clutch I would just peel out! I'm pretty sure I'm dropping the clutch the same way as before, pretty much all at once, but it's never done this before. I've been running stock tire pressure and it comes up fine, I just dropped it from 33 down to 28 though after I peeled out a few times, didn't seem to do much though.
It did that maybe 10 times before I left, then I tried one on the street later that day and it came right up. Any clue what I'm doing wrong??

stop leaning forward when your clutching it! keep your arms straight and this will force you to keep your body weight back on the bike. another good thing to do if it keeps doing that, is do a quick burn out before starting to wheelie. that will heat that rubber up so it doesn't spin anymore.

keep the pressure u have now, 28lbs... make sure your tires are warmed up before u start trying to pick it up.. other than that, keep your weight leaned back.. or try putting your left foot on the rear peg and your rightfoot covering the rear brrake... let me know how that works.. good luck

Re: Back wheel spinning when I clutch it

are your tires in good shape that could be a problem also any sand gravel in the parking lot.

Re: Back wheel spinning when I clutch it

I think it was that I had just left the house and gone to the parking lot 1/2 a mile away and my tires were still cold. Both tires are good, less than 5k on both.
The only other weird thing was that if I sat toward the back of the seat it would spin more than if I sat normally. It's going to rain tomorrow but I'll be out friday and let you know how it goes. Thanks for the advise, I'll try the burn out before the wheelie if I haven't been out for long, keep you posted!

You're not a parking lot stunter, I would advise you just take a few laps around the area before you start trying to wheelie to warm your tires up, instead of burning a tire onto the ground that costs over 100 dollars.

Re: Back wheel spinning when I clutch it

90% of that problem has to do with your weight distribution. You are probably sitting too far up close to the tank. Move your *** back toward the rear seat, even if you have to stretech your arms a little to reach the handle bars. If you clutch it the bike should come right up and the tire should not spin. Make sure you cover the rear brake, its easier when you sit back anyway. If it is still spinning which I don't think it will then do what everyone else said and lower the tire pressure or do a small burnout before you decide to wheelie.
