Help - Bad clutch problems???

Alright got a '04 Gixxer 1000 and the cluth is being a little bastard... I got a few buddies who were having problems were it was like the clutch wasn't engaging (or slipping) when hitting the throttle. I have adjusted the set screw a few times and it helped but today no such luck...

I tried to adjust the set screw but the nut wouldn't turn, so I backed the set screw out all the way and the damn thind is bent like a banana....so I made a new one. Clutch is still slipping, I damn near had to push the thing home. Could it be a broken spring? Only got 2000 miles on the bike...

Yeah I've adjusted it like 5 times, it makes a difference but it doesn't completely fix it....I'm pulling the springs to check them now...

You have an 04 model with a warranty and you're already turning a wrench on it yourself....take it to the shop you bought it from and have them fix the problem. Next time buy a HONDA...just playin

Did you try to pull wheelies or burnouts on it when it was brand new? before it was run in? have you done heaps of city riding on it?

I have had this happen twice where I will load the clutch up for a wheelie/ burnout and then it slips bad once then its truly (FU**ED) they glaze up when they get hot, you could be bodgey and try to sand the plates up again but really its brand new take it back to Suziki and get some warantee treatment happening.

Had the same problem with my 03 1k. Tried some rolling burn outs with the clutch and roasted it in about 20 sec. I learned and don't use the clutch anymore. I ended up replacing every plate myself.
I would say no on the broken spring and that you just f!cked up like i did.
Eat the bullet and buy a new clutch.

Re: Help - Bad clutch problems???

Alright I replaced the plates & fibers....the plates were warped, blue as hell, it looks like there was uneven pressure....yeah i had done a couple burnouts and I rock some wheelies, but at 2000 miles that's way to early.

It get's better: After replacing the clutch and the set screw (it was bent like a freaking banana) the bastard is still slipping. I took iit into the dealer yesterday but doubt they'll cover anything...

**** dude, I'm not a mechanic but, its gotta be Leaver, cable route, cable, clutch asembly, clutch basket if its not one of them then its not a problem with your clutch, have you found out yet, what did your dealer say, and fk oath if you put a new (suziki) clutch in and its sliping that should be a Warantee job for sure.

Re: Help - Bad clutch problems???

Got it back last thursday, dealer said something about the spring on the set screw assembly that connects to the pushrod. Something still don't feel right, they even adjusted it. No warranty job though - this bitch cost me another $150 after I paid for and replaced the clutch.
