easyest way to get to 12
easyest way to get to 12
I watched dozens of people ride 12's this weekend at the Star Boyz Stunt fest. I am still unclear as to how they are getting the 12 so effortlessly. I was talking to Kevin and he was saying he does them on stock gears. I have a 954 that is 5 up with a cage and a 12 bar - if anyone has any pointers for a stunt begginner I would appreciate it if you could help.
Re: easyest way to get to 12
I'm still working on learning, and it seems that the main advice that I've picked up is to learn to ride the slow stuff before I work on scraping anymore, I was crashing almost every time I scraped, and I watched the video of me crashing and saw that my throttle control was really unsmooth, I'm probably at the same point as you now, so I don't know if this helps, but it took me a while before I gathered enough feedback and info just to hear this one small piece of advice.

there is a 2000000000000000 page thread. why dont you check it out. its very easy, you go to page one, read on, and it will explain everything in detail. this is why no one gets any help on here is because people ask the same question 50 times and all the really good people get sick of answering every other day. do a search or check the sticky thread at the top of this forum.

The very most important thing is brake control... doesn't matter how you get it up there as long as you can control it... get slow stuff down first then try to start scraping... it will significantly reduce the chance of you eating it...

first thing, get on a dirtbike or something and learn to snap it up until your staring at your gas tank. If you can see anything but your gas cap your not there. It's just a matter of getting over that mental block that your going to flip. (954's are not a beginner bike, you better be on your game with some throttle control or say hello to the pavement for me). Be easy on the brake too, it doesn't take much.
Oh turn your idle to about 2K, that should help with the slack in the engine when your on/off the throttle.

Pretty much. I just spent the last two weekends practicing and getting advice from the guys that know this **** and I'm getting a lot more comfortable with "catching" the bike with the back brake
Re: easyest way to get to 12
the engine slack has been a problem for me, I thought I was being really smooth, and staying in the gas while on the brake, but it would usually shift the direction of stress on the chain, and bring me back down if I was trying to stay slow. does it help to bring the idle even higher if I'm just working on learning the slow stuff?
