i really wanna STUNT(basically).

for bout 2 hours i stayed in an empty parking lot trying to wheelie and stoppie.

im on a cbr f4

WHEELIES:
- 1st gear, stock tire pressure 32 lbs, i get up to 10-15 mph rev to 6-7k, drop the clutch and i get it up for about 2-3 seconds then it comes down. i automatically feel like im going to fast, and let off the gas... the throttle feels so sensitive when i get it up. how can i fix this and actually ride it out ?

STOPPIES:

- 1st gear, get to about 30 mph, pull in clutch, apply pressure with middle finger on brake, squeeze gas tank with thighs, sit up.

my results with this stunt were mixed, sometimes it felt like it only came up a little and sometimes it came up kinda high and slammed down hard, towards the end of trying this my brakes felt worn down and werent grabbing too good.
should i go with 2 fingers? 4?

do i hit the brakes , get it in the air, and release? release a little?

i got kinda frustrated after a while and went home, i want to do these 2 basic things so badly. but i guess i did OK for my first hour or so of ever trying anything stunt related on my bike.

thanks for any help fellas.

Re: i really wanna STUNT(basically).

as far as your wheelies go, it sounds like youre doing everything right, you just have the normal "lack of nutts" syndrome... everyone goes through that... just keep bringing it up. it will feel a lot higher than it is... but believe me you will know when you are at the balance point. dont forget to cover your rear brake. and also lower your tire pessure. 32lbs is a lot, thats pretty much track pressure... especially if you are trying to slow down your wheelies.... put it at like 15-20

cant rly help you with stoppies... havent really gotten much 1st hand experience with them, as im trying to get my wheelies on lock first

Re: i really wanna STUNT(basically).

try reading stuff on the boards, do searches, read posts, and just listen before you start asking questions. maybe do a seach for "tire pressure" then one for "stoppies" and start reading all you can, then try stuff out. once you hit a road block, then start asking questions. You just registered so i know you haven't read all that there is on this board yet. you'll be surprised the info you'll find by just reading other posts.

This is normal for beginners. I was also trying to learn wheelies (I ride full stock 636 '03) and when the front came up I was scared and let off the throttle. With lots of practice now I can play with the bike on one wheel. It feels way higher then you realy are. Until your bike is shooting out rpm fast towards limiter you are too low. The BEST ADVICE I can give you is tell some friend to videotape you, then you will realy see how low are you. Then try looking some pics on the net, and see how high bikes are in 1st gear. Also try download some helmet-cam videos of guys riding wheelies, and you will gain some feeling how high the bike should be (I learned that way). But try a bit by bit and you will come to BP one time, and you will most certanly feel it.
The way I do it with 636 is 7-8k , then let off -1k the back on. I hit the BP directly and just have a smooth ride for as far as I want. Problem with 600cc bikes is you have to hit BP fast, cuz you don't have enough power(like 1000 bikes) to play with height until you find it. Cover the rear brake.

Concerning the sprocket, my advice is that you first learn with stock gearing.

Re: i really wanna STUNT(basically).

Just keep practicing and def lower your rear tire psi and ALWAYS make sure you cover the rear brake, sounds like you are still choppy on the throttle so stay on that brake so you don't loop it. As far as stoppies, i'm def not a stoppie king but just some basic advice, try using atleast 2 or 3 fingers on the brake and initially get the forks compressed with the brake and then bring it up back straight, head up, legs locked on the tank, and don't ride em' to a complete stop when your learning, alot of guys loop over doing that... other than that it's just going to take some time and like the guy said earlier some NUTS>>> good luck ....
