What the **** am I doing wrong? I can get the front off the ground maybe an inch or two but that is it! Other times the bike would just surge ahead or the rear tire would break loose....THIS IS ****ING BULLSHIT!

Please help me, what am i doing wrong?

Sounds to me like you are either letting the clutch out too slow or letting off the gas (usually out of fear--not a bad thing!) Try this the next time you go out on the 954...start off in 2nd gear, get up to 25-30mph and slip your clutch in with two fingers just until it engages (you'll hear the revs climb if you are still on the throttle) I go by engine sound but you can look at the revs the first few times if you'd like. Okay its a quick movement...slip the clutch in at 25mph and crack the throttle open about a 1/4 way till the revs climb to 8-9k and drop...yes, I said drop the clutch while still on the throttle about a 1/4. DO NOT FORGET TO COVER THE REAR BRAKE IF YOU ARE JUST LEARNING! Chances are the bike will only hop a foot or two off the ground...but that's a good thing. (you didn't loop it on top of you ) Keep on practicing giving her more throttle and popping the clutch out until it comes up enough so that you can ride it out a bit...then you need to practice throttle control. I find that if I hold my hand steady at 1/4 throttle when I drop the clutch it comes up nice and predictable to the same spot everytime. As you get it higher and higher you will reach a point where you will **** yourself and chop the throttle...slamming the front end down and bouncing your nuts off the tank Enjoy this feeling...we've all done it. Now read some more threads on stuntlife and keep practicing.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

so im riding out a 2nd gear stand up and im comin up to an over pass. (im going OVER the highway on the over pass) as soon as i get to the over pass, i think the arc of it jus tossed me back a little to much and i was ready for it. i looped going like 65. **** me.

i tumbled twice and tried to get up (for some reason everyone tries to get up to fast) but i wasnt done moving so i take one more tumble and stand up all quick like when a baserunner steals second, slides, hits the bag and pops right up. so when i get up i see my bike still sliding down the other side of the median. there is a crash cage on it mind you. i run out into traffic all bloody cause i was only wearing a tshirt and jeans to pick up my phone and everything that came out of my trunk. then i go over to my bike and the thing starts right up (so glad i bought a honda).

i ride it home. put it in the garage and clean myself up. the bike needed a new front wheel, master cylinder, and cluth adjuster and that was it to make it work mechanically sound. the plastics had rash and the tank was dented but i dont care. i got a sugar load of money from insurance.

end of story.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

That sucks lucas! Glad you could be up and around going down that fast without gear on though Now you gotta get some sympathy from the honey's

Seriously though I feel better about my prospects about walking away from a wheelie gone bad after hearing that. I know they are all different but with all my gear, gloves, coat, pants, helmet I hope that if it does happen I will be ok. I only wheelie on straights so I don't think I'll hit anything solid before stopping so I'm more worried about a cager wrecking me like KungFu had happen.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

sup guys, ive been out of town for about a week but im home now. update on my wheelies--can get em balanced but cant hold them at balance point for a long time. seems like i get it balanced, then it drops a little then i get it balanced again, etc. my wheelies definitely slowed down and im riding them easily 1/4 mile everytime, with my longest probably up near 1/2-3/4 of a mile.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Nice Snigg!! Way to get em up

Ya I've been wrecked twice by stupid people in cars. The first was on my Buell by some fuggin road rage guy with a problem with "bikers" as he refered to me. In Denver we have been having a steady climb in road rage and the first time I experianced it was not fun. So this A-Hole (hehe I said A-Hole) almost runs into me so I swerve to avoid him and ended up behind his white girly subaru as soon as I did he slams on his breaks and,,well it was november and I had only been on the bike for about 5 min. so I had no traction at all with my Icy cold tires, so boom!! right into his dumb ****. I was only wearing half gloves,,,no helmet, no jacket. I covered my head with my hands and rolled down the street with my X1 sliding beside me. As I looked up after sliding to a stop I watched Mr. Wussy driving away. But,,,get this the dumb jerk off came back, because He got down the street and realized he might get some money for a dented bumper, but wait it gets better. So, as I walk up to the car bleeding from all over the place, my palm was ground down so bad it was gushing, my knee was broken and my thumb completely broken his P ussy **** yells at me from inside his car as he is rolling up his window as fast as he can, "you,,,you, stay away from me,,,,you hit my car"
So, thank God for the two witnesses that stopped and saw the whole thing, and for once the police did the right thing,,,I know amazing. So I sued his dumb **** and won as well as attended and participated in the trial where his was stripped of his licence. I had surgery on my hand and all sorts of physical therapy on my knee, the road rash sucked but left me some good story scares.
Incidently, the incident I listed on my precious post, the guy who hit me took off, went home and cleaned his car where he hit my front tire. He was never charged and he did a total of 5000.00 in damage plus medical. Denver PD not only dropped the ball but they called me and told me they found no marks on his car,,I responded with "ya think,,,uh maybe he already took care of it seeing how he fled the scene and all" They refused to go look at my Bike even though it had white paint on the front tire from impact, I even took pictures to try to convince them to get off thier fat doughnut eatin ***** and just go fuggin look at it,,,they never did,,,unreal huh

Be careful out there seriously I know I am, well as much as I can without sacrificing fun,,,hehe

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

We're taking the video camera out this weekend. Hope to get some good footage. I'm hoping I can muddle my way through getting it uploaded to my or my brother's site and I'll post a link so you can see my little pop can wheelies It's analog so we have to run it through a converter to upload it so it's kinda grainy but we have fun editing our stuff and adding tunes. Also there's a bachelor party tomorrow night and we're gonna sneak the cam in the room and get some good home porno of the strippers. Prolly better not post that on the net though

I got the FI cage on today and a fresh oil change so I'm happy :YEAH I still need to get the chain and sprockets done. I'd do them myself but I don't have the thing to do the rivet master link. I guess a little chain wax and this one will have to hold together for one more day of riding

I'm still admiring my scuffed plastic and wondering when my old buddy KungFu is gonna hook me up with some wet sanding tips

I'm happy I actually got something done with the scoot though. I've been wanting to change the oil and it gets to nagging at me to the point that I don't want to ride till I get it done so now I'm golden and we can get back to 12 Grand!!! Haha.

Keep up the work KungFu. I'll try to figure out how to get a frame capture out of our video and make an avitar. It'll probably suck and be blurry but that's ok

Until next time.

dumb *** me dropped my bike for the first time, flipping it 180 on teh kickstand. and a few days ago i alsmot bought a cage, well teh shitty job done on teh stator cover from previous owner gave way. so i rode home real quick, ordered a new stator with gasket on ebay 68$ shipped, and come monday AM i am getting a powers cage, and THEN i will hit the nearest lot and ride with peace of mind, cage is like insurance to me.

what made me th emaddest was if i woulda had a cage, this **** woulda never happened!!!!

What's up toby...good to hear from you again. Relax and take some time to just ride. After my crash I couldn't wheelie for ****...fear of looping and having my arm in a full cast for 4 months was still playin tricks on me. Couple of months went by of just clutching pop can wheelies a foot off the ground (sorry FHL) and my confidence came back slowly. Now I'm out tearing it up doing 90mph second gear tank wheelies and scraping tail on the highway (sorry again FHL...but you deserve it) But seriously...take some time and wheelie slow. Not too high...but DO get the front end up as soon as possible. Don't let one crash stop you from stunting...it hasn't stopped me. I'm sure there will be more...why do you think they make "crash" cages? Keep on pissing off the popo Later--bladerunner. P.S. FHL...not hating, just playing around. Go read your own posts once in a while and you can laugh with the rest of us.

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Hey guys, had a question for the fellow 954 riders.
Anyone know how to tighten the throttle. Mine has way too much play in it and causes me a bit more chopping then I'd like. I'm not all that mechanically inclined so this may be a really easy thing(something I can do myself) or a really hard thing(something only the shop can do) either way I have no idea.

Thanks,
Keep'm up

Will

Re: CBR 954rr Wheelie tips

Break out your tool kit that came with the bike and find two of the wrenches. I believe one is like an 8mm or something and the other is also very small. On the throttle clip on you'll see two lines coming out of it..find the one that has a nut on it followed by a longer adjustment nut. Crack open the stop nut (normal size nut) and use the smaller wrench to turn the adjustment nut. I believe if your on the right side of the bike doing this you'll be loosening the adjuster nut (counter clockwise). check the throttle as your doing this to make sure the slack is being taken up. When done tighten the stop nut and turn on the bike. Make sure to turn the bars from stop to stop and listen or watch the tach to see if the throttle is being opened at the extreme positions. You should be all set now.

Toby,

It is nerves from the wreck. I just wrecked mine for the first time the other day and it was nothing major and still freaked me out. I got bruised up a little but was basically fine. It was just losing that feeling of invincibility that it's not going to happen to me. It shook me for a few minutes and I had to do a wheelie right away (like before I got home) just to prove to myself that everything is ok and I still aint scared.

We went out yesterday and got some video and I hadn't ridden since the crash and I was way off my game. I didn't even wreck doing a wheelie but it was just the thought that everything can go from good to bad in the blink of an eye that's stuck with me. I got two decent wheelies (one on camera) all day and just wasn't feeling it.

It'll get better I'm sure but it certainly puts a damper on things. Like Blade says. Just take it slow and work back up slowly. Unless you broke a couple cylinders off the side of your motor it aint the bike
