help! cant clutch for shat
ok, got a '00 vtr 1000 which puts out plenty of torque. i can power up in first, but i dont like that too much cause it revs out too fast and i cant ride it, not to mention the throttle is too touchy in first. i read everyones stuff about clutching up in second, so i try and i get nothing. i whack the throttle wide open, bump the clutch a little to get the revs up and then i dump it, i always sit back with my arms straight and i keep my **** toward the back of the seat and all i get is a little lift, like 3 inches.
what am i doing wrong, or what can i do to get this going? i want to get into long wheelies.

Either you're not opening the throttle enough before you drop the clutch, or you're closing the throttle at the same time you're dropping the clutch. That bike should come up easy.

Not trying to jack your thread, but I do have a clutch question myself.
What is the RIGHT way to clutch a BIKE. I have been riding for two years now and cant Wheelie
. I have a 01 R6 which is a god damn torque monster. Anyways I have heard that you get the rpms up then hit the clutch and give gas??? Dont know if thats right cause it dont WORK for me. Then I have heard keep your hand on the gas then pull clutch in while keeping the gas at the same rpm??? Dont know if thats right?? I tried doing it that way lastnight and it didnt seem right.
I have been practicing to two years and cant do it. What the hell!!!! I can say that I have gotten it up here and there but its never consistent.. Please help..

when i clutch up 2nd on my cbr f3, which by no means is a torque monster, i a on the throttle constantly at about 1/2 open then at the exact moment that i pull in the clutch (just into the friction zone not all the way in i crack open the throttle (but it is under control) and let out the clutch. and after the front end pops off the ground i keep on the throttle the same as i was after i let out the clutch until i am all the way up.
p.s. you can rock really long wheelies in 1st gear you just have to keep it at your special place 'the balance point'
