how tight should your chain be for wheelies?

how tight should your chain be for wheelies?

say standups on an 01 F4i with stock sprockets/chain? manual says 1"-1,3/4" slack, yet my buddy with an F4 brings it up easily with almost 1/2 the above mentioned slack... thoughts?

too much slack causes the chain to bounce and makes throttle a little twitchy. it also leaves slack in there so when you hammer on it, it will jerk on your chain.

properly adjusted chain, do it by the book and you won't have problems. you DEFINATELY don't want it loose. oh ya, and either way, it's not going to help your wheelies if that's what you are looking for.
