Standare Chains

Whats your thoughts on them? I know a few people rock them with no problems. Most shops would sell them to me, but would tell me they wont last as long. And will need to be lubed up more and might be noisy. But one dude refused to sell me one, saying that it would break cause my bike is to powerful(97 gsxr 750) and wouldnt be responsible for my hospital bills.

I was planning to only use it for the remainder of the season and maybe upgrade next season. Whats your thoughts on these chains?

depending on what kind of standard style chain you are buying they can be good or bad. from the sounds of it, you are looking for an inexpensive way to end the season...the cheap standard chains are REALLY sh*tty. They stretch a lot and wear out very quickly so you would be morely likely to break it or throw it and cause a lot of damage and that is why that shop refuse to sell it to you. if you look in any motorcycle (i.e. parts unlimited, tucker rocky, etc) in the description of each chain it gives a rating as to what cc range it will be advisable to use it on. most of the inexpensive chains are rated up to 500cc's at the most.

that's just my

i work at a shop and i used to be the counter b*tch so i had to deal with that on a daily basis. it seems like the guy is being a d*ck but he is just trying to look out for ya

yes, cheap chains are shitty...but you can get a DID standard chain for 30$. it's the same metal that DID uses in their o-ring chains, just no o-rings. That means it's louder and needs lubed more often, but isn't any weaker.

i run that chain, beat hte hell out of it, have had it since may and no problems except just gotta lube. it's a high quality chain, DID is a great company, it's just non-oring. that has nothing to do with tensil strength.

now you buy a non oring cheap *** chain that has no tensil strength, then you are in trouble. DID are all rated for liter bikes. (at least the 530's are)
