Slow wheelies: start sitting or standing?
Slow wheelies: start sitting or standing?
Hey im on the verge of learning slow wheelies clutching 1st gear left leg on passenger peg and right leg on rear brake.... ive been watching alot of video and i think some people clutch it sitting down and as its coming up they standup.... another video i see the guy already standing up on the pegs and clutching it up.... i have tried both.... the one starting from sitdown i can ride it out pretty choppy though... then i tried already standing up and that **** feels scary plus i noticed they use 1 finger to pull in the clutch.... i have a weak pointer finger so its hard to pull in the clutch for me
just wanted to know what you guys think is better to start off. the only one i can ride out smoothly is standing on the pegs already and powering it up but i know you not suppose to power it up if your trying to do a slow wheelie.

naw i dont have a 12 bar yet..... ive been workign out my pointer finger just so i can pull in the clutch w/ 1 finger... you think i should mess w/ my idle??? i havent touched hte idle yet.... ive only been playing w/ the throttle... i do hold the brake down a little before i bring it up though.... i know its all brake control but dang its pretty hard.. i can hit bp 1st gear but by then im going way too fast.
naw ive been working out.... my finger that is.... i can now pull in the clutch w/ my pointer finger but **** i was practicing today and dayamn thats hard to clutch it up in 1st it gets too choppy for me.... i guess i need **** load of practice
I dont have gauges but mine is pretty high i dont even use the throttle i just ride them with the idle. The key is to get it up really fast if you dont by the time you get it up there your going to fast.
well...my idle varies. I set it to like 3, but if you blip the throttle it'll hang at like 5 grand until you slip the clutch out and then it goes back down to 3k. So i don't know if htat means it jumps to 5k rpms when i'm wheelie or if it's at 3k...i think it's at 3k.
anyways, i know people set it anywhere from 2500-5000 rpms. just keep trying. I found 3000 works good for me now but i might turn it up. I try not to have it too high cause i set it before a freestyle comp and i need to be able to do all my stunts without changing my idle.

I don't turn my idle up at all unless I am taking my throttle hand off..then its 3500.
For the clutch I use 2 fingers then cover it with 1 (if I have to use it) as its coming up. I don't feel comfortable using 1 to bring it up.
