929 popping out of gear? help

So my buddy has a 929 and everytime he is in 2nd gear and lays into it, it pops out of gear. And it only happens in 2nd gear and when he gives it alot of throttle!Im thinkin one of the shift forks could be bent and its not pushing the gear all the way over and it slips out! im not to sure. does anyone have and suggestions? thanks.

Re: 929 popping out of gear? help

if you have the tranny do the whole thing... you have to split the case to do the trans... so you might as well.

Sounds like you are going to have to pull the motor and split the cases. Yea there is possibly a bent shift fork or 3... But I bet the dogs on the gears have been rounded too.

Re: 929 popping out of gear? help

So i took out the drum and shift forks and on the left fork that puts it into 2nd gear, the fork was worn down to where there was no lips on the end of the fork. So im jus gonna put new forks in it and hopefully she works!

Re: 929 popping out of gear? help

i would check the dogs on the gear that that shift fork is attached to... i just did a trans in an r6 and i replaced the gear also cuz with it slipping out like that it usually rounds off the dogs... and the dogs are the round nubs sticking off the gear that engane it into the other gear next to it
