i have a 2002 f4I im workin on does anyone no how to test the ignition pulse generator to tell if its good or not???? the bike is getting gas and has no spark ive checked the ignition switch, tip sensor, fuses, all wiring im not sure what else it could be other than the computer which i dont want to replace cuz it cost so much any help would be awesome thanks

 

nobody??? i was reading about the cam pulse generator to would that going bad cause no spark?? and if so how could i test that?

 

BUMP:

I have no clue what that cam pulse generator is but yesterday I tried to start my F4i up and nothing. No fuel pump prime, no headlight, no ignition. Fuses are good just have no clue?!

 

yeah i still havent figured mine out i have replaced the cam pulse generator the computer bypassed the tip sensor and still the fuel pump primes but no spark this is crazy what else could it be???????????

I have not had this issue (knock on wood) but pump primes so its not tip sensor. I would firs check the plugs, then inspect wires from the spark plugs all the way to where ever they go. Then replace the plug boots cause they are the ignition coils. the see if it sparks. Then start looking at the pulse generator . P.s if you un plug the coils 1 by 1 LEAVE THE PLUGS IN an put a tester plug in sockett so as to not spray fuel out onto you plug that might spark. an if plugs out, for god sake's do not look down the hole an hit the starter.lol it hurts to have gas sprayed in you eyes.lol

 

yeah i tried plugs and different ignition coils but its not getting the signal from the computer to tell it to spark and i have tried another computer from a buddies runnin bike still no fire

 

That is odd..f4i has non adjustable timing,so I dont think thats an issue, it would probably run like *** if it jumped timing via the cam or cam chain.I am puzzled for now, I will try an look into it an let you know what I can find out.
