This has happened to me twice already. I tried everything and both times it was the wiring harness. Im almost willing to say its for sure the harness. Swap it out and you should be good to go.

did you change the ecu when you did the harness? i was thinking about trying that because i have a extra

 

Nope it was just the harness itself. Im telling you. Save yourself the troubles and just swap it out. Takes like 30 minutes and your good to go

 

riding the bike for that long with no water in it will most likely caused the thermostat to freeze up , make sure the water is flowing in the radiator

M.A.P. sensor!!! Try the M.A.P. sensor would make it run like crap when it get's hot.

 

mine did that. i just ripped it out, but now that im az-bound, ill have to get another. Didnt really bother the bike here in maine, but with the higher temps it could be a problem.

 

plus one here. Last year my 636 started to freak out on me on the street.
It would buck like a bronco, lose power then regain and over and over.

It swapped out like everything. No improvement.

Friend of mine told me to just swap out the whole wire harness.
I did that and wam problem fixed.

I never inspected the bad harness to see where the problem was. something was shorting out or causing an intermittent open circuit. Well we got like two feet of sno here and i'm bored. So maybe I should cut opent the harness and find the problem. Its got to be repairable with a little soldering.

 

MAP sensor? Is that the temp sensor at the top of the air box?

No, thats the IAT. i forget where the map lives. maybe on the throttlebodies themselves? it says "MAP" right on it, on the little sticker.

 

When my bike heats up my idle goes to ****. When its cool it pulls strong but once it warms up it acts like it has a vacuum leak. Im wondering if its one of the sensors? Ill plug my guages in and see if its shooting any FI codes.

 

what do you mean feels like a vacuum leak? does it SOUND like its down a cylinder? does it sound drastically different between cold/hot or does it just feel low on power or what?

 

It sounds fine just when it gets hot my idle doesnt pull as strong as it should. If I get on the brake hard the idle stumbles and takes a while to reach the rpm I have it set to. Its hesitates instead of going straight to what its set as. Its real easy to kill. Not sure what the hell is causing it. Ive tried everything.

 

odd. lift the tank up while its running, and spray the **** out of the throttlebodies and suck with carb clean. see if it causes the bike to rev up or stumble. if it does, then u know the area that your issue is coming from (if its a leak of some sort).

my bike's motor doesn't feel have as strong as my buddies, and i'm geared more than he is. but for the time beign mines consistant, and smooth from idle to rev limiter, so i just left it alone.

 

maybe you should synq the throttle bodies...
that will help for a stronger idle
is a 20min job

 

plus one I am dying to get that motion pro sync gauge. Even if your bike runs mint its a good thing to do to your bike. Charge a few of your buddies ten bucks a bike to sync theirs and the tool will pay for itself.
