it stays running but when you turn it off cold, it'll start right up. when you turn it off hot it wont start up easily until eventually it wont start. Didnt you read any of the 10 pages

i did.....I'm thinking ok....i smoke alot of weed so .....um i lost my train of thought...THANKS MAN! i know you changed the starter already...same thing happened........relays???? what if the relay isn't closing for the main? i think you have to do a voltage drop between the battery and the starter and/or the ground wire. heat causes higher resisitance in electrical equipment....resistance itself causes heat. got a spare ecu???? i'm trying to find a needle in a haystack here....

Does it run fine when it's hot or does it idle lower than normal? If it doesn't run well then I'm thinking it could be mechanical. If it runs fine and just won't start, it's probably electrical. This one has me stumped.

could have something expanding from heat dragging the engine slower as it gets hotter.

something in the starter drive? clutch..not the starter clutch but the engine /trans? hmm it would be rying to roll off on ya if that was it....excessive friction inside the engine? bearings? cam chain too tight? geez i'm thinkin...what that could be caused by.

Ummmm I couldnt really tell but Nick said it sounded funny and he noticed that when you turn the switch off it stops very quick like the motor just dies out fast. I didnt notice it at first but once he pointed it out to me I heard it. Besides that

Loosened the cam chain tensioner already.

Anything binding, the actual piece that pushes on the cam chain, anything funky.

Re: F4i not starting when warmed up

So who wants to laugh at my misery So Mike & I put his spare motor in my bike. I finished putting everything together yesterday and heard a ticking which I thought the motor was fucked up. Turns out the motor is fine and it was an exhaust leak. So okay, I replaced the headers with my headers, tightened up the bolts put the tank on blah blah blah. Started the bike - sounds good. Let the bike heat up to around 190 and turned it off and now its doing the same exact thing it was doing before When its hot it doesnt wanna run but from a cold start, it starts up fine. WTF What should I do? Should I replace the whole wiring harness? It has to be something with that right???????????????????????????????????????
