Chain setups

Hi Guys, i've read through all sorts of previous threads, and since the search won't work i'm forced to ask again.

How do you guys sort out your chain and sprocket set ups?

I have a 2002 GSXR 600, which runs 16front and 43 rear as stock, i wanna go up to a 49 or 50 rear to learn on.

what length chain do i need to buy? will a "motorcross" chain and sprockets work?

what do i need to consider if i drop to a 520 chain pitch (this gixxer is 525 as stock)

Cheers in advance guys

Re: Chain setups

Click on the Haibikeshop links and goto products, choose your bike, chains and sprockets and finally gearing info. it'll clear things up for you.

Motorcross won't work hommie.

Re: Chain setups

if you change both sprockets and get 520 sprockets then you can run a 520 chain, which is the size motocross bikes run. So sort of yes motocross chain will work if you change both sprockets pitch. 520 is also alot lighter and supposed to make the bike accelerate faster.

The search is supposed to work now and someone had a equation saying so many tooth on the back require this many more links I think it was like 3 links per tooth...or like 2.5ish...if you only go to 50 on the rear a 120 should be long enough you will just have to shorten it of course
