Re: f4i charging issue

if your voltage is low it's not the rectifier, it's the stator. the rectifier takes a/c current and makes it 12v dc...so when it goes back you get crazy charging and it usually burns the harness and fries batteries. when the voltage is too low you have a damaged stator (or stator wire somewhere) that isn't working.

stator is on the left of hte bike, under hte cover by the engine. 3 yellow wires that run all the way to the back and into the rectifier that is under hte tail fairing on the left subframe. has fins on it.

i'll bet money you burnt a wire inside your stator windings and need a new stator. had any wrecks on the left side lately?

Re: f4i charging issue

Same thing happened on my 929 to check your stator peel back some wires and put the voltometer on it check for contuniety if there is none a new stator is what you need more then likely your wire is going to be fried near the connectors so but dont worry about replacing them when you buy your new stator it comes with about 2 feet of wire on it

Re: f4i charging issue

binder, stash u guys kick ***. that the info i was looking for. :YEAH

the bike was wrecked when i bought it but it runs, just doesnt charge. i was looking at the regulator and followed the harness to the plugs and found the connector for the yellow wires not connected to anything. i assume it gives the same condition as the stator being shoot. ill have to test it to see if its still good.

im thinking mybe the guy unplugged it so it wouldnt fry a battery like you said binder.

thanks guys ill let u know what i find tomarrow.
