Unhappy What am I doing wrong.....

I've been trying 2nd gear wheelies with the bouncing technique, and its just not working. i bring my bike up to about 8 or 9,000 RPM's, stand up, then I bounce it and hit the throttle, and I've only had luck getting it up maybe a foot.

My friend I've been ridin with was doin it all day.

I think I don't weigh enough, I'm a skinny focker ( 140lbs.) compared to him he's probably in the 200 range.

I'm also down one tooth in the front. He was telling me try it on the back pegs, but I just don't like the fact that i can't cover my brake. Considering that I 'm still in the learning phase.

Use the clutch to get it up, it will come right up. u r right about the back pegs, you dont need to use them anyway.

I've just started doing them. I am one down in front also with the same bike as yours. I am able to ride them for about 8-10 seconds.

Here is what I do.

Going about 60mph, role up to 65mph, chop the throttle while bouncing at the same time. As soon as the front forks start to unload (which is only a split second after you bounce) wack the throttle open about 3/4. It will come up nice and smooth. Then hold on and enjoy the ride. It is all about the timing. Sometimes I do everything the same but am a little late wacking the throttle open and it only comes up a little bit. When you time it right, you will have no problems. Oh yeah, as you said, cover the rear break. Stay off the rear pegs.

From what I am hearing, clutching it is easier but I am still learning how to do it, so I haven't tried a standup yet. I am learning to clutch sitting down.

Hope this helps a little.

its all technique. practice practice practice. I would think being lighter would be easier. don't just bounce the front. bounce with your legs aswell, and crank that gas. almost like your lifting yourself off the bike as well.

yea but are you clutching it up or bouncing it at 25mph.. Clutching the bike up aint a problem.

I bounce mine up anywhere between 6-8 grand in second, any more than that it won't come up, maybe your rpms are too high...
this is usually anywhere from 40-55 mph, just have to experiment with your bike.. and once you do finally get them up start working on getting to that balance point after that it's all gravy you can ride for miles with just small inputs of throttle to keep it at the bp
good luck, and practice

F*ck that, learn to use the clutch that is the key to every stunt. Just remember you need the clutch to do 12s, tank wheelis, wind screen wheelies etc, and everything else so learn it now.. That will improve your riding 100 times over...

Just my 2 cents worth

use the clutch, doing bounce wheelies only reinforces bad habits and one day you will be brick walled because you wasted all that time trying to do bounce wheelies and you will be limited in what you can do

Not everyone wants their bike to be a 100% stunt machine. Because of this, they might not want to use the clutch because clutching wheelies does much damage to the gear dogs (clutch is easy to replace).

that may be true but I don't think anyone wants to be a bad rider on purpose and if you let out the clutch smoothly you shouldn't have any problems. I also heard but I'm not sure about this if you coast to a stop all the time you will never ever have to replace your brake pads

I blip the clutch as my rpm increases between 7-9K RPM in second and it comes up super smooth. I replace the clutch springs on my bike with higher pressure ones so that engagement is solid on release. Too solid though...ive been riding wheelies for a long time and riding bikes for many years and i flipped my bike last weekend...broke my collar bone....thats what happens when you get too comfortable!!

I'm getting better, I got it up pretty good today but didn't ride any out yet. I was at about 55-60 mph, gave it a couple little bounces, then one good one and boom she came right up.

i'm getting better at sitdown clutches too.
