Basically, you need to take a drill bit and drill out the spacer on the frame a little so that you can completely see the motor mount. This way when you drill the actual mount out nothing will get in your way and **** up your alignment. Next, take the tap and tap the hole. And yea, you're going to want to use 2 15mm inserts if you want the threads to be as long as they were originally, but doubling up the inserts is tricky. Basically, drive one in all the way to the back. Then you want to drive in the second one being careful to leave about 1-2 threads in between the 2 inserts so the bolt can wiggle a little and slide freely between the 2 inserts.
what if i just take out the spacer(part B), that way i wouldn't have to drill it?

p.s. kolbe said theyd do it for $30-$50 + $40 towing since i don't wanna ride it out there while im missin an engine mount..but i dont wanna spend an extra $100.

the only thing i'm worried about now, is that the tap/drill (13/32) will be long enough because the threaded part of the hole is roughly 5.5 inches in from the point that the drill-bit/tap will be going in.
I knew I would get some kicks outta that...

ya know I spent 300 on my girls car last week cause I didnt wanna have her pay 90 to replace her thermostat, ended up ****** up a buncha **** when I had a bolt break off, and even still tried to fix that myself...

sometimes its just worth the money...

oh yeah I think part A/B are only threaded to screw onto eachother.... its actually smooth going though em so the inside part of its not threaded.... thats why the threads on your bolt are only on the very end of it... not the whole way up... at least I think so... and yeah you wouldnt wanna take those out because as stated before, those are measured out a certain distance to maintain the right amount of space between your engine and the frame...

Re: stripped my engine mount!

i dunno, seems to me like this is gonna be complicated enough to where if it were me id go ahead and take it to the shop, im sure you know someone with a truck, or do you have roadside assistance on ur insurance, if you do, they should do it for free... at least my insurance company does, i just gotta pay it myself, and they re-imburse me....

if you can do that itll save you the 40 for the tow, and you wont be sweatin bullets while you attempt to do this yourself worrying about ****** it up... just my

then when ur tools get there in the mail, put return to sender on the box, that way you dont have to pay return shipping, and get ur money back for those....

UPS, and FED EX, you can just say that you dont wish to accept the package, USPS you can write return to sender, a friend I knew, she would have her mom send her stuff, and when she wanted to send stuff back to her mom she would use the same box, and write return to sender, (usually within a couple days of recieving the package obviously you wouldnt wanna do that to a package you recieved 2 weeks before since the date is stamped on the postmark)

but yeah with postage rates going up, gotta save money wherever you can :YEAH

and as far as the .38 miles away, have fun with that, I had to push my bike less than that, and it sucked *****, granted it was slightly up hill but eitherway it still sucked...

let us know how it turns out...

Re: stripped my engine mount!

$30-40 isn't a bad deal at all man if they are going to double up those helicoils.

Drive it there, missing one bolt isn't going to hurt.

Re: stripped my engine mount!

yeah it's only like 15-20 ft. lbs. It don't take **** to tighten it. Ive been wrenching for a while and I still don't trust myself on these bikes.
