Well, my battery was dead, and I'm itching to ride(havent ridden in 2 or 3 weeks)...So I decided to jump the battery off with some jumper cables. I hooked it up to the battery, and then I went to hook it up to my f4i battery, and I umm accidently hooked up the neg cable to the positive post, and the pos cable to the neg post It threw a spark and I immediately pulled them.

Ok so basically I had the negative cable clamped on, and I touched the pos cable onto the neg post. I pulled it back as soon as I saw a small spark. The key was turned in the F4i, and as soon as the cable threw that spark all my lights went dead. And now nothing turns on when i turn the key. No fuel pump, no lights, no nothing. Did I just fry my battery, or have I seriously messed up something else as well?...I'm extremely broke, so I'm scared to death that I may need a new ecu or something. Someone help! I wont mind buying a new battery, since this one dies every now and then anyways...

cliff notes: Dummy hooked up jumper cables the wrong way. Now F4i doesnt do anything when I turn the key. No fuel pump, no lights, nada! What did I break? What should I do now?

 

oh, the "donor" battery was the battery in my truck, if that helps any...

make sure u keep your god damn truck shut off or you will burn up your regulator/rectifier

 

thanks bro, I'ma check that first thing tommorow, kinda dark to see clearly now...haha I do keep the truck off man, I heard you can blow up a small battery if you keep a car/truck on when jumping them

 

oh and just incase, u cannot put fuses in backwords, so you can't **** that up

 

I believe it is spelt backwards, not backwords

 

u know what, i think ur truck should be turned on and have some one rev the **** out of it while u charge your bike next time, helps charge it faster
