bent shifter shart thing

dont really know what it's called, but the piece coming out of the motor that your gear shifter hooks onto bent when i broke my rearset.... it hits the front sprocket cover now and wont change gears @ all now.... should i bend it back or what? anyone had this problem?

it wont hurt anything, or break? should it be heated first? ect...?

i'd say take it off the bike first, and yea a lil heat never hurt!

I've bent back rearsets and shifters without breaking them after gettin em nice and toasty. Heat is a beautiful thing

you cant take out the shifter shaft without taking the motor apart

pretty sure you just need to take of the clutch to get it out, but if its bent I doubt your gettting it out anyway. The heat will melt the seal if you leave it in the motor. Just bend it back best you can, it's a steel rod it shouldn't break too easilly.

you will break the the block cold bending it back.

heat it up alittle bit to bend it back.. see it was warm when it got bent in the first place.

+1 it will break the block bending it back cold, Depending on how bad it is bent just bend it back enough to be able to change gears again or replace it
