need help with stoppies on F4i

Yes I can do them, no I can't roll em. I'm still learning, but I can get the rear wheel a decent amount off the ground, only problem is I'd say maybe 2 out of 5 times I end up lockin up the front wheel, right before I feel like its gonna come up.

This is how I've been doing them. Get bike up to around 40-50mph, once I get there I start to gradually brake harder and harder, usually it will come up, but like I said a good amount of my attempts end up sliding the front wheel. Anyone got any pointers or thoughts on this.

Go about 40

Go about 40 and as soon as hit the front brakes preload the forks and shift your weight forward over the forks. Do it a couple times and you will find the balance point.

do you mean bounce on the front when you say preload the forks? and is that before or after you start to get on the brakes?

Your doing the same thing I did at first..
What your doing is your easing you *** end up, so by the time its up to a good point your just about to stop.
Work on getting the rear end up as fast as possible..Grab that brake hard at first and then feather it.

What worked for me was I found a empty lot , Drew a line and worked on making sure my *** end was up at the same point every time. helps you with consistency, then work on the hieght.

Well if you guys look in the "stunt discussion" section you'll see my thread about how I flipped the bike the other day practicing......woops . I guess I don't have a problem getting to that balance point, now I just have to work on staying there

I totally suck at stoppies but this is what I do...
I go about 20-25 and grab brakes hard, you can feel the forks bottom out then squeeze brakes just a tad more and it will come up

I'm horrible at them but I can get it up 100% of the time most of the time not high or rolling, but i have only did about 40 of them total

might help, probally not

hey.. im gonna give you some of my .02

last year i rode an f4i.. and my BEST stoppie was like 80 feet tops... i had the same problem.. the front end LOVED to lock up.. i think it might have to do with the fork rake or somthing.. but they tent to lock up... so make sure you have a really good tire.. and its warm.. they like to kick out also...

this year.. 2nd day on my 929... no damper.. im rolling 160 no sweat.. gonna start going big when i get a damper.. but the f4i just sucks for stoppies IMHO.. but great for everything else..

Thumbs up

hey bro..I had the same prob. with my f4i last season.Theres only a few things i got for you but...Never go really slow to try them cause it just wont happen. When you pull in your brake try to pull it harder each time till you get the rear off the ground then work on the hight of the lift.make sure that the pavment doesnt have a shine to it caused by oil from lot of use.One thing i did was push my body twards the front of the bike right as you pull the brake it will take your weight off the back end...youll notice after a while that your *** isnt even really in the seat.i also have my brake as hard to pull as it can get for instant brake effect.after a while youll see at balance point that once there your not on the brake at all...trust me youll get it just practice...once you get it then youll never forget it....latta

Try cranking up the preload on the forks using the preload adjuster. I don't know what the guy was talking about with 'preloading' it -- I think he means just shift your weight forward.

jeeze...... go about 40-50 and like these guys say. press the brake a little, to depress the shocks, so the front end goes down. and Give the bike a bounce afterwards! Once you bounce to seat a little bit, as the rear shock goes down, and springs back up, press the brake a little more... the back end should come up, even at like 5 mph is you do this. I can do it with barely any front break used. Just enough for momentum and weight to spring the bike up at the right time...
hope it helps..
