Forget Bouncing it up

I went out today and did the on off method in 1st to get use to the bike coming up, then I went around 7000 RPMs in 2nd gear stood up gave a half @$$ bunny hop and said "(*&^^%@@ this) and sit back down. I was so uncomfortable up there and I can't imagine what would have happened if I actually put forth the effort in bouncing. I don't know but I guess I need more time getting use to my bike. I am not even use to 1st gear wheelies yet. I can't keep them up for no longer than 2 seconds but I know that I am at or ALmost at the balance point b/c I feel lightness and I can't see the rd much. Anyway should I get use to 1st and keeping it up before I move on to 2nd or what? :twelve

clutch it up man the f4is are pimp wheelie bikes (thats what your on yes?), i like stand up wheelies my self but if sit downs are your thing. I dont think 1st gear wheelies are worth it too twitchy and just for 12's pretty much.. learn in 2nd it will be so much easyer get going around 40 - 50 in 2nd and pull in the clutch to get the rpms to rise and let it out and gas it. im not an expert stunnter or anything but i can bring up my zx6r in third .. stand up ..bounce and slip the clutch.. some guy can do it in 4th like that.. hope this helps somewhat

if your in first gear doing a sit down wheelie the only way you should be able to see the road is down the fork tubes or around the fairing . before you attempt going any higher get accustomed to using the back brake while in your wheelie so when the day comes that you scrape your tailight you wont freeze up like a deer and you will calmy ride the bike out to the balance point.

Can't speak for anyone else, but I have the same bike as you and I got comfortable with my 1st gear wheelies first. To the point where id ride them through first and almost 2nd. When you are able to do this then you will be comforable with your bike. For the most part. Then I started doing the stand-up bounce in 2nd and in about 2 hours after my first attempt I was holding them for about 3-4 seconds easy. still working but it gets easier every time I try now.

I am having issues with the back brake. I can ride 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear standups as far as I want (I say that but my longest wheelie is about 3 miles hehe). And last night I started clutching up 2nd gear sitdowns. I cruise about 20 mph, clutch it and gas it up and it comes up lightning fast with the clutch. In fact it comes up so fast that I almost went over a couple times and had to use the back brake to keep from going over. I want to know how the pros use it when doing slow wheelies. Do you clutch it up and ease on and off the brake when you need to and mainly the throttle to modulate height? Or do you give it enough gas to go over and constantly ride the brake and use the brake alone to control height?
