Wheelies and altitude
I live in Calgary, Canada and we are way up at about 3000 feet above sea level. I ride an 01 CBR600F4i. In order to get the front up I pretty much need to slip the clutch. I know that the thin air at this altitude means less power, but is there a big enough difference from sea level to require clutch or is it just my crappy technique?. I know some little guys (I'm a bit of a fatty at about 210lbs) here that can pop it up with the throttle, but I can't seem to do it.

I got my bike in Flagstaff Arizona which is at 6800 feet and I didn't have much in the way of problems with them. If you are like me, you need to get a feel for the power band of the bike. A 600 needs a higher rev to get her up than most. Practice, practice, practice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You Can Do It
I got the exact same bike and im 6'4" about 200lbs. If this is old news to you then just disregaurd. But start out in first take off fairly quickly doesn't matter as long as you're not driving like grandma. Get your rmps to bout 6-7 let off for a split sec and hammer it down. front should rise right up. after you get the feel start leaning back you should be able to hold it up. Good Luck

No, not completely opened up. get the feel of it. I open it up a lot but not all the way. best thing I could tell you is to start out by letting off the gas and when you hit it again, roll it back a little past the point it was at before you let off. Start there, then work it farther and farther back till you start feeling comfortable and the bike comes up to your satisfaction.
