900rr starting issues

Basically heres my problem... I was stunting the 97 900 around are parking lot, shut it off for a moment, and when i got back on it it would not start. Checked my fuses they were fine, the bike will push start without a problem. So i got another starter and it still wont do a thing. I've only had this bike a couple months dont know its workings too well. I've noticed there are two relays that click when i push the starter one on the right side of the tail and one up by the fuse box. I'm just kinda stumped at the moment. Anyone have any ideas.

Master Fuse..

Follow the battery cable to it's first stop...

Positive side....

Uncover the master fuse and replace....

Ride...

Re: 900rr starting issues

look at the cable from the + side battery and there sould be a rubber cover over like a fuse type thing see if you are getting power to both side should be 2 wires with nuts holding them down one of my 929s did that

Re: 900rr starting issues

Man....

Could be a gang of stuff...

Not smoked fuses???

Probly not a grounded out wire then...

Can you borrow someone's ignition switch...

That's my Dumd A$$ answer for when I have no idea where to start....

Swap parts untill you find the problem...

Funny....

Right???

Re: 900rr starting issues

Think you may have a fried solinoid(the thing the main fuse is pluged into). If the battery is good....When you hit the starter if the headlights dim and relays click then eveything is good through the harness up to the seconday side of the solinoid. To test, simply find a screwdriver and cross the two main terminals on the starter solinoid (it will spark)..if the starter cranks then get a new solinoid..... then ride.

Re: 900rr starting issues

Yeah whenever i hit the ignition switch the headlight dims bad, but still no crank. So what you guys are saying is cross the positive lead and the ground wires that are actually on the starter itself. Am i suppose to be hitting the ignition at this time as well? Let me know and i'll give it a shot when i get home this evening.

Re: 900rr starting issues

Well im still getting nowhere. just crossing the 2 terminals on the starter with the key on does absolutely nothing. if i hit the ignition it will spark like crazy but still no cranking out of the starter. i'm about to just take it to the local honda dealer but im curious if they'll even want to do anything to it considering the condition it is in.
