929 2nd Gear Question

Ok
So i just picked up an 01 929 and I love the bike. I only had it out for a few hours yesterday and I was able to balance out 1st fine and everything, but I tried 2nd and I could get it up, it was just more difficult than I thought it would be. on the f4i I was rockin out 2nd gear no problem, even with stock gearing...anyone else have one with stock gearing rockin 2nd gear stand ups no problem? Am I just rusty?

Anyone have a good suggestion on gearing. I'm thinking maybe just go up a few teeth in the back. I don't want to slow the bike down much, and I don't want 1st gear to be real touchy. I kind of like 1st gear how it is, but I would like a little something to make 2nd easier.

Then again its probably just me

Re: 929 2nd Gear Question

I'm +10 on the rear sprocket and I love it. Highway is revving like 7000 at 80 mph but it is great for parking lots. If you want to keep it reasonable you should probably go like 5 up or something.

Re: 929 2nd Gear Question

stand staggered always made it easier for me, then clutch and a little bounce, I can bring my 750 up in 3rd all day stock gears. If you want to hang on to the top end I'd just leave it stock or go -1 or something. I don't know about you but when I get the red-and-blue inspiration behind me during a highway standup I use all of that top end.

Re: 929 2nd Gear Question

Yeah I know, I always stand staggered and clutch with a little bounce. I only tried for like 10 minutes, but I guess I thought I was good enough. Oh well
