no, that is not the nuber of teeth, on my '03 I had stock sprocket that had the same number - 43, and it was original 40t sprocket...aldo I don't know what the hell does this number mean...

sprocket gearing on a bike doesn't mean everything you also have to look at the trans gearing, two different 600s could have different sprocket sizes but still have the same overall gear ratio because of the trans. It's actually more efficient in terms of drivetrain loss to put a smaller sprocket on the rear from the factory because it reduces reciprocating mass which is very important for an efficient drivetrain.
