954 Headlight Question

Has anyone ever used screws or a small lag bolt to screw into the headlight where the alignment/holding pins are on the headlight after they break?

I am missing a few tabs on one side of the cowl (not the headlight) and was thinking of doing something like this to give the headlight some more support so it doesn't flop around so bad.

Besides this the headlight is mint so I don't want to really **** it up or let moisture into the headlight, so if you have experimented with this let me know what happened...............
