Slow wheelies
Slow wheelies
I've almost got slow wheelies down, I still have a problem with correcting with throttle, and it seems like no matter how high I clutch the bike from a stop I can't close the throttle without the engine brake kicking in, and I'm talking about being far enough behind bp to where it takes a lot of brake to keep the bike from hitting the 12 bar.
I'm using 3000rpm idle and i've been told that's enough but it just doesn't seem like it wants to catch on the idle and allow me to close the throttle and only use brake.
The other problem is that's forcing me to blip the throttle every second and I'm afraid if I turn my idle up any more I'm gonna keep blipping it out of instinct and loop hard..
Should I focus on trying to bring my throttle hand to the brake res and keep turning the idle up until it'll catch on the clutch up that way I don't blip it accidentally or is there a better way?
Also I forgot to mention I learned brake control by slowing the bike down with throttle and brake at the same time, and like zunit says it's working against me, I have no idea where the actual "balance" point is in a slow wheelie so I don't know when I need to tap the brake to keep going in idle.
I've watched doodle on the same setup I have with a subframe peg and he balances them with the forks slightly down, I would assume it would be a little bit higher for me since I weigh less.

Re: Slow wheelies
definitally on the brake to hard and its definitally becuase of slowing down **** staying on the brake and gas at the same time. just keep practicing. thats all you can do til you realize how it feels to let the idle take over. and dont try taking your hand off til you can idle first.
Re: Slow wheelies
what i found eziest for learning idle was turning the idle to like 4-5k (it was high but i didn't have a cluster) and clutching it up rolling alittle bit and just staying a tiny bit behind bp and staying on the break real smooth slowing down untill u hit idle and u are totally off throttle
Re: Slow wheelies
keep it at 3000 maybe 3500 at the highest, u arent that geared...basically u shudnt be riding the brake at all, just very light taps...ull feel it, ull give it gas and then let off and it will want to carry on its own...keep at it
Re: Slow wheelies
im having the same problem....either i put the bike down with too much brake, or i put the bike on the bar...every once in a while i feel the idle take over (and it feels good) but then i screw it up......but atleast im not wrecking, and im doing it SLOOOOOOOOOOW....clutch up from standstill (almost) and let off the gas......should i be steady on the gas, and slowly roll off..letting idle take over? or should i just clutch it up/let off the gas, & catch it w/ the break?
