Advice
Ok, so I had a 900rr, geared -1 +15. I started out learning in the lot, with the idle. As of last Saturday when I sold it, I could rock 12's, scrapes, do really wide turns, and no throttle hand. Had all that **** on lock. Started stand up no handers, but never really got anywhere. I can clutch up highway stuff, but it seems I am always chasing the BP and can only ride them out for 1/4-1/2 mile at best at around 60mph. Plus I need to use the rear brake, I can't just rock the BP using engine brake. This kind of scares me when I think about high chairs, spreaders, and seat standers. Question is this, I just bought an '01 F4i and the ***** is pretty much stock. I want to get off the crutch of the idle when doing slow ****, and learn to rock the highways for miles without using the rear brake too much. What should I spend most of my time on? Rocking slow **** without bumping up the idle, or work on high speed **** and get comfortable with that? I know this is a problem for a lot of people and I don't want a history lesson, just want to use this good opportunity at the end of the season to learn some REAL skills.
Re: Advice
i think both are hand in hand. I mainly do slow stuff. Im just now finally getting the idle down to rock 5mph ****. -1f +5R gsxr6. Last week I rocked my first freeway wheelie for like a mile in third gear. It was really smooth. Slow **** will help you to have smooth throttle control for slow stuff and fast, In my opinion. Aint nuthing wrong using brake on the freeway. Once you have mastered throttle control, engine braking would be alot more practical, for doing SS's and high spreader, HC's.
Re: Advice
just go out to the highwahy , bring it up in second or 3rd. and try and get it to sonstant throttle. i found it helped putting my knees in the tank..kept me mreo stable, and i was smoother on the throttle...u shud be able to slow it down or balance with jsut throttle before u even hit the brake...dont be afraid to use it tthough its ur friend, to corner, and slow down for traffic...also mount a hb and then u wont hafta worry on ss, spreaders in stuff...i wudnt be worried not havin a hb in first, but in 2nd or 3rd a ss wud flip real easy with stock gears
Re: Advice
**** was easier to learn that I thought. First gear, give it enough gas to loop it, hold throttle in one spot, hit the rear brake. One I realized working the throttle and brake at the same time doesn't work, **** came quick.
