DB bars on a 929

I want to put dirt bike bars on my 929. I have seen kits for $400-500. Is there a way I can avoid spending that much to set it up?

yeah...buy a set of dirtbike bar risers (i got my set for $90.00) and a set of dirtbike bars...drill the hole through your top tripple tree, and PRESTO....just switch all you controlls over to the D.B. there is a set of bars, and risers on ebay right now.....search for "stunt bars" you should find it

the 929 has a tapered upper triple that is hard to just drill into and put risers on it, you can buy a set or risers from freestyle ingenuity made for the 929 or full throttle sells an entire upper but that can get pricey

Is there any way to put bars on a 929/954 using a stationary damper (Scotts, GPR, ICS, etc.)?

Re: DB bars on a 929

I thought about that. On the 954, they have a little ridge that goes into the bottom of the upper triple so they won't move. I could grind it off and move it. Just a little hesitant to.

Me and my buddy, Jelly, both just put renthal DB bars on our 9 deuces. Get the aformentioned bar risers (i got mine for waaaaay cheaper than that guy). Take off your tripple tree.
flip it upside down.
check out the two circular spots on the inside from where the piece was pressed.
Drill out those two spots to fit the bolt for your risers. You'll need about 3 washers for each riser to put between the top side of the tree, and the riser.
then switch up your shiiiat and Voila dirtbike bars. on a 929.
i'll post up a couple pics if you want.
good luck. oh yah. i got Renthal bars for a RM 125. good ! :YEAH

Re: DB bars on a 929

yeah I saw a few when I was piecing together my front end swap, but I dont ever want to run dirtbike bars, so I opted for the 929. I can see them being harder to find, just with fewer people who dont know what they are doing buying more expensive bikes like that..... I'll do some looking and post up in here if I find anything......

Re: DB bars on a 929

you will need longer brake lines but the clutch cable will be tight but it works, horn wires need to be longer if you run one

Re: DB bars on a 929

on my f4i with the 954 front end...... this is the best pic i got right now..
i got tag 1 1/8 mounts and some moose 1 1/8 bars........ bolt on the mounts, mark the spots u wanna drill, clamp em down real level and tight in a drill press and slowly drill your holes.... then get some short spacers for the bolt, and grind em so they have an angle on them to match the angle of the triple clamp......
i'll try to get better pics soom
