The 636 choke lever

Well the owner's manual ( ) says not to operate the bike with the choke on, but I was thinking that it would be easier to just pull the choke lever when I want to do idle wheelies instead of reaching down and adjusting the idle. Is there a reason the owner's manual says not to do it? Is this a good idea?

Re: The 636 choke lever

Im pretty sure the reason it says not to is because it will richen the mixture and foul more plugs then usual. Ive ridden my CR250 around the track for 20 minutes with the choke on and the only bad thing that happened was the plug was fouled and I needed to dry it off before it would spark again.

Re: The 636 choke lever

But... isn't it different because the bike is fuel injected? I had the airbox off today and it looks like the choke just opens up the throttle, just like adjusting the idle would do.

The 636 is a fuel injected bike. Just like the GSXR's. That is just a fast idle switch, no different than turning your idle up. So just push it all the way up and start rocking some whoolies. you should get about 3000 RPMS out of it. Good Luck

Yeah, I figured this question wouldn't apply to people with a hand brake.
