636 12 bar question/advice?

I currently have a Powerz 12 bar on my 636, from the moment I installed it I knew it was too long. I decided to keep it like that untill I learned to actually scrape it, I didnt want to be like all the guys around here with 12 bars that dont even scrape ****. So now Im scrapin the thing no problem I can get it on the bar anytime I want and Im pretty smooth, but I can't park it because when it slows down and I pull in the clutch it just comes back down really fast. Im thinking the bar is too long and its not even possible to park it, I can stand it up on the bar but not while moving.

So rather than go through all the BS of cutting, welding and repostioning the plate, I ordered a Freestyle inginuity 12 bar. I wasnt able to choose from the Pro or regular , so I just got their regular bar. My question is when I install this how far from the tail will it be? Is a shorter bar easier to park/scrape? Do I have to do anything special to make the regular bar into a pro? If possible Id like to have the 12 bar flush with the tail becasue after learing 12's on the 636 I rode my 03 R6 street bike and Im scrapin tail and exhaust no problem. Ive worn down about 1/2 and inch of tail and exhaust tip and it feels so stable at that height.

Basically I just want to know how a short bar feels compared to a longer bar? And what the best length is for an average stunter to learn parking 12's. Also the plate is alot smaller than the Powerz, will that feel any different when on the bar?

Id appreciate pics of bars on 636's if anyones got any?

Thanks

This will give you an idea of how the bike will sit on the bar. It's right where it needs to be, in my opinion. I bring it back on the bar every once in a while and it sits very stable.

I just through it up there then, because as you notice the plate isn't on there... I had to reweld it on later, and I've scraped it doing coasters/normal schweet whoolies and have parked it many a times before. lol

Re: 636 12 bar question/advice?

get a 2x4 or some piece of wood

get someone to hold the up (on 2 wheeles like your checkin your oil)

and hold the piece of wood virtically from the tire and that is where 12 is

and have it do the plate is at that spot

Re: 636 12 bar question/advice?

I'm not real sure about the placement, I have also heard that the best way to learn 12's is without a bar. I built one for my bike (haven't had the time to test it yet), and I went straight up from the rear tire, so it shouldn't have any problem parking! I used a 2' level to figure out where I wanted it, I also used a torpedo level to mark where to cut the steel so it should be flat when I 12 it. Doing it this way didn't leave any room for my foot to fit on the 12 bar during stunts, so I guess I will have to use the rear peg a lot, or remove the rear seat. I guess if I need to I can alway re-drill some of the holes and extend it backwards.

I was going to try to post up some pics, but I don't have anyway to edit the size of them on this computer (my main one died), so I guess I will have to wait until I get some sort of pic editor...paint won't cut it!

Re: 636 12 bar question/advice?

ok, let me try it again....Here are the pics of my homemade 12 bar for my 2000 ZX6R. Maybe someday I will find the time to actually get out and see if it works!!!
