Thumbs down Carbs suck... HELP!!!

Hey everyone!

I'm having a problem with my 1996 GSX-R 750...

Well, about 2 months ago my bike started running like crap (more than usual)... it started by sputtering when I was up doing slow stuff... then after a few more days it just basically felt like it ran outa gas while it was up there... now, I have NEVER had this problem before... its almost like my bike grew a tipover sensor or something. Also, by this point it wasn't running so well on flat ground... and clutching it up was hit or miss... sometimes it just completly stalled while I was clutching at 8 grand... leaving me fighthing not to go over the front... not fun at all.

Anyways, I saved up... got myself a new jet kit.. proud to say I took the carbs appart, put the kit in, put it all back together (with no left-over parts I might add!!) and the bike started like a champ ...I have it all dialed in now and is super strong on the street, even clutches up nice and strong ...but again ...biotch just dies as soon as I get it into 12 position.

I'm pretty frustrated at this point and I gotta get it running right by this May long weekend coming up ...can anyone help me out as to what I can check/fix to get this thing running in a slow wheelie situation again?

...man I hope you guys can help!

Many thanks to everyone!

-Andrew

Re: Carbs suck... HELP!!!

I have an f3 and everyone tells me you can't be up in the 12 position for more than a couple of seconds before it starts sputtering and dies. I've never read that there was a way to fix it. I'm not 12'in yet so I haven't worried about it yet. It might be your floats are getting stuck, causing it to flood? I know I got to drain my bowls almost after every good crash cuz it runs like shiot afterwards and for some reason I get a little bit of oil in there.(?) not sure why exactly, but I'm guessing its runnin through my airbox from the breather hose. Sorry man, but once I get good I'm upgrading to fuel injection.

Re: Carbs suck... HELP!!!

In that pic (which was actually my very first 12 O'Clock in June 2004... happened to have a professional photographer at the track that day... also caught the aftermath of my first busted stator lol) I was running -2 in the front and stock 42?? rear sprocket. Now I am running -2 front and 55 (+13) in the rear and it runs great for the slow stuff... when my bike is actually running properly of course.

Cheers!
