u can rock slow with sock, ur just more likely to stall if u dont ride the clutch. a lot of well known and talented riders will say -2 +10 is perfect for 600's and -2 +5 for liter bikes from wut ive gatherd

-2 +5 would equal roughly +10 in the back. -1 in the front is about + 2 1/2 in the back

Re: what size sprocket for slow stuff on a 954

you need new gearing for going 3mph without stalling, not for 15mph wheelies.

i was doing 15 mph on stock, to slow it down some more I would slip the clutch. Just went 2 down in the front, getting used to that before I go up in the back.

Re: what size sprocket for slow stuff on a 954

yep, same here, I know the stock gearing can roll really slow almoust at idle and not stall. If you bring the idle up a bit and go -1 front-> it will roll really low speed(both wheels on the ground), and not stall even if brake on it.

But I have the same prob. How to hell do I clutch it up from so low speed? Do you slow it down, or should I rev the **** off and clutch it straight up from walking pace? ????

Re: what size sprocket for slow stuff on a 954

well first you stop the bike completely and you clutch it up, as soon as you reach 12 oclock you pull in the clutch and you back break. Now from there you start slipping the clutch back in and you go easy on the brake because if you press it too hard the bike will stall. Also you should have your RPM at about 2000, that is my way of doing it, yes it is hard but it works it will help you alot in the long run.
Hope I helped, but everybody has their own style but I would get good on stock before gearing up learn the hard way it will come in handy, now get ur practice on.
