standing on tank

Re: standing on tank
I shift into 3rd gear and set my choke on my F2 to keep me going, i usually do them at no more than 35 MPH cause wind starts becommin a major factor then. Start slow, i started by standing on the seat then puttin my feet up onto the tank, grabbing onto the top of the windscreen and gettin my feet centered below me then slowly standing up. If it doesnt feel right or your not balanced get back down.... Now i have no problem jumpin from the pegs to the tank (while holding onto the bars of the bike not an elevator yet) and just standing up its a fairly simple trick but looks very impressive.

Re: standing on tank
The faster you go the more inclined the bike is to be stable and go straight. Lower speed make the bike wobble. I wouldn't go any faster than 50 mph. The safest way to start learning this trick is to gain some speed and kick the bike in nuetral. Using the idle or choke is something I would avoid until you build confidence and control along with the ability to steer the bike. If you ever panic get scared or think you are going to crash DON'T JUMP OFF!!! Just open your legs and fall back into the seat.

Totally agree with Keeth. You should definitely learn this trick in neutral. If you fall off atleast the bike won't go forever and smash into something accelerating instead of slowing down. And remember, if you get skurred, open your legs and fall down. One hit to the ***** is better than a bunch of bruises and a crashed bike.

Re: standing on tank
Yeah only reason i do them with the choke set is cause i dont like the feeling of the bike slowing down and gettin less stable, and ive rode them for 8+ blocks stearing and crap just to see "if i could and how far". I learned with choke set and all but ill definatly agree with doin them in neutral. Ive gotten close to fallin off of a seat stand once and barley dropped down in time in order to clamp my legs around the bike leanin half way off the side of the bike. I havnt done a seat stand since haha

Re: standing on tank
Well i'll tell you one thing, setting your idle high and putting it in second gear isnt the way i wouldnt do it, it may be because of the lack of brain cells i posses but last time i did that, i set my idle up and i tried jumping from seat to tank, lost balance next thing you know my bike is saying hello to the nearest building, that cost me a whole new front end, but hey if it works for you then goodluck, and avoid buildings, also i found it easy to start off squating when i was first learning, you'll get used to it eventually and be able to stand up no problem, a dented take also helps because its flatter and easier to keep balance

i found it a little hard to get down (it just felt weird)
i have seen people fall right down onto the seat, is taht what i should do?

Re: standing on tank
I used to do them standing on the seat but I finally tryed it on the tank this weekend and it was a hell of a lot easier, I just worked my up slow on foot at a time and I put it in nuetral at about 45.

Re: standing on tank
I find it easiest to put it neutral at around 50 kms and while holding on to the handlebars, jump up high off the pegs and land on the tank (still holding on to the handlebars) then carefully ease yourself into a standing position. With some practice and balance, you can easily turn your idle up and hop up. Then you can ride them as long as you want. But if you fall off you're in trouble. Getting down is easy too, just kinda bend over to grab your handlebars and once you have 'em, just drop into the seat.
