Sprocket question.

Alright, i know you probably heard it many times before and im gonna get harrassed about not searching, but it's time for me to get new sprockets, so i figure i'll ask here before i get anything different. I put close to 11,000 miles on my bike this year so im gona go ahead and change em. What i want to know is if i should go up or down or leave them the same. I dont have any problems with wheelies as of now, but i know it makes it easier. But is it really nessecary? Right now i ride through first no problem and ride nice sit downs in second. Stand ups i go for about 1/4 miles to 1/2 mile, workin toward the mile mark. Im pickin up a second bike for a beater so il go nutty with that and turn it into a stunt bike, but what would you do in my situation with the 636? Would it even be worth getting a different size sprocket or should i just keep going along with what im doing now?

Re: Sprocket question.

from what I hear a -1 +2 or 3 helps a bit, just pick up wise, and it wont kill you too bad, if your already getting a stuntbike, leave this one alone you'll sooner or later hate riding around a bike that tops out at like 80.

Depends if u want to make it stuntbike(slow ****) or just to ride freeways.on a freeway it's fine to get 1 down 2 up,will be easier to do high speed stuff without killing to much of your top end.on 636 for slow **** 1 down 18 up sounds about right to start with.

Re: Sprocket question.

I might just leave her alone and pick up a second 636 and turn that into my stunt bike. I want to learn slow wheelies, but i dont even want to start learning till i get a 2nd bike. The only thing i would tweak on my 636 now would be to make the higher speed stuff easier. I dont got to much of a problem now though, so maybe i will just leave it. If i do change it i'll go 1 down and 2 up. What are the downsides of 1 down 2 up?

U will cut your top end.so maybe if your bike goes 180,after -1+2 it will do 170.2 or 3 gear will be way easier, maybe 4,don't know 600 that well.on my gsxr 1k, 3 and 4 gear no clutch comes up with no problem, easy.well not anymore now it's -1+20 now 6 gear comes up no problem at all

I'll just give it a shot and let you know. If it only drops down to 170 that that aint a big problem. Still faster then i need to be goin on the street. Maybe i will go for it.
