I need to know what size chain I have on my 1998 F3? It is a stock chain. How do you know if your chain is 520,525,or 530? What is the difference? I am sorry if this is a stupid question

 

Check on the chain, it usually says on the link what size it is.

 

yeah,the links will tell you the size,if its dirty or is black wipe it off,its etched in the metal

 

98 f3 is unfortunately the odd size of 525 chain. they did that on the 96 and newer 900's and the f3's.

the number just means how wide the chain is. 520 being skinnier, 525 thicker, 530 even thicker. 530 is the basic standard.
